The WM-CTC Teacher Academy pairs future teachers with mentor
teachers to provide students with experiences in all aspects of schoolrelated
activities from board and parent/teacher meetings to classroom and
professional development experiences. In a process based on interviews,
discussions, portfolios of student work, demonstrations, field trips, and
actual teaching experiences, students will gain a realistic understanding of
teaching as a career. As well, the educational community will have a part in
creating a dynamic pool of future teachers to fill local demands. This is a
state-approved course aligned to the Entry-Level Standards, Career &
Employability Standards, Technical Standards, Pathway Standards,
Foundation Standards, and Technology Standards. Students have a total of
eight different placements (each a different grade-level) and spend roughly
5 hours each week working with their host teacher.
This program is offered via the Wexford-Missaukee CTC but is delivered
via the Traverse Bay ISD.
"The mission of the Wexford-Missaukee CTC is to prepare students for career success."
