REMC 2 South has offered several sessions of 21 Things for the 21st Century Educator.  This is an online training based on the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T).  The 21 Things for the 21st Century Administrator, based on the National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators (NETS-A) will be offered in the Spring/Summer of 2012.  21 Things4Studnets was piloted by several classrooms through June 2011 and released in the Fall of 2011.  For additional information please see the following websites: 21 Things for 21st Century Educator, 21 Things for 21st Century Administrator, and 21Things4Students.

Important note: Districts using this survey tool should have it completed no later than Friday, November 19th; however, based on the state deadline of December 1st --- the recommendation would be to take, ASAP.
This assessment, developed by the REMC Instructional Technology Specialists, can be accessed at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/psta2010. Wendy Musselman is your ISD contact and will be requesting the data on your behalf. 
 
Requests must come from the ISD/RESD/ESD/RESA contact. Remember the REP closes on midnight December 1, make sure to keep this in mind when requesting data and it takes at least three days turnaround.

Michigan LearnPort® is a statewide professional development portal developed through a partnership between Michigan Virtual University ® (MVU®) and the Michigan Department of Education (MDE). To encourage teachers, administrators and other instructional personnel to experience the value and effective nature of online learning first-hand, MVU is offering stipends for enrolling in and successfully completing selected curriculum content courses and requirements through Michigan LearnPort.
 
Enrollment is limited for each section and varies depending upon the course. The goal of the stipend program is to meet the needs of professional organizations and individual educators through expanding the use of Michigan LearnPort.
 
These high-quality, instructor-led courses will be offered twice during the 2010-11 fiscal year. And will provide teachers with resources and strategies to meet the diverse student needs under the Michigan Merit Curriculum (MMC).
 
MMC courses will earn a $300 stipend and 3.5 State Board Continuing Education Units (SBCEUs):
                Algebra 1
                Algebra 2
                Geometry
                World History and Geography
                U.S. History and Geography.
 
MMC courses will earn $200 and 2.5 SBCEUs:
                Biology
                Chemistry
                English Language Arts
                Physics.
 
$150 and 1.0 SBCEUs:
                Integrating Blended Instruction into Your Classroom.
 
Eligibility for the stipend requires 1) completion of the course, and 2) the submission of the application and one lesson plan using one or more of the strategies or activities described in the course. This lesson plan must be approved by the course instructor as part of the course completion requirements. You must submit your application form and lesson plan to MVU as described below. This lesson plan may become a resource for Michigan teachers through Michigan LearnPort.
 
Teachers must apply for the stipend after completion of the course on the Stipend Application Form downloadable from the course.
 
This stipend is paid from, and governed by, requirements of the ESEA Title II, Part (A) funds.

The REMC Toolkit is a resource to help administrators, teachers, and technology coordinators use technology effectively in their school educational programs. Although the content within each role is the same, the information is organized in categories that apply to the different responsibilities of each role.
