CTC Receives Substantial Engine Donations

posted Mar 8, 2016, 8:22 AM by Jennifer Gaffke

The Heavy Equipment Mechanics program at the Wexford-Missaukee Career Technical Center (WMCTC) recently received three engines worth over $70,000 from Navistar, Inc. The addition of these engines to the CTC will give our students training opportunities on the latest electronic diesel engine technologies, which are usually only found at universities and technical post-secondary schools.

The company donated a 2013 Navistar N13 475 HP engine, a 2010 Navistar N13 475 HP engine with an Eaton 13 speed Auto Shift Transmission bolted to it, and a 2014 Cummins ISB 300 HP engine including the complete engine emission system.

This donation was made possible by Chad Brown and Tim Taylor from Navistar, Inc. in Melrose Park, IL. Chad Brown, who spear-headed the donation, is a graduate of Southern Illinois University. Tim Taylor, who assisted in the donation and the logistics of getting the engines to us, is a long-standing member of the WMCTC Heavy Equipment Advisory Committee. Ken Dorland and Curt Albers from Star Truck Rental in Cadillac donated the 28 foot straight-truck and paid for the fuel costs for transportation of the engines.

The WMISD CTC greatly appreciates all of the assistance in giving our Heavy Equipment program the ability to offer state of the art programming.
