CTC Student Earns Pharmacy Technician Certificate

posted Jun 15, 2016, 5:22 AM by Jennifer Gaffke

A student enrolled in the Health Science Careers program at the Wexford-Missaukee Career Technical Center (WM-CTC) recently earned a Pharmacy Technician Certificate.  After completing the five-week class through Agape Health Care, Kyle Morrison (Grayling HS) passed the exam on June 10, 2016 in Grand Rapids.  This was the first time that Pharmacy Technician coursework was offered to WM-CTC students.

A Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing dosage medications into bottles and unit dose packaging under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.  Other duties include collecting patient information for prescription and billing, and preparing and stocking medications and supplies.  Pharmacy Technicians work primarily for local independent pharmacies, hospitals, or clinics which dispense medication directly to patients.
