Special Services Students Pick Apples

posted Nov 11, 2014, 6:51 AM by Trent Miller
On October 7th three classes from Special Services went to Gray’s Orchard in Benzonia to pick apples.  Jack and Sharon Gray allow the students to pick for free for their fundraiser.  Three buses filled with students, staff, and some great volunteers made the hour drive north.  Weather was perfect, after a rain postponement of last week. They picked for about an hour, and then had pizza out in Beulah for lunch.  The students and instructors set up a "pie factory" in the gym and kitchen for 2 days on the following week, making 110 pies and 165 dumplings.  They are currently selling them to raise money for student activities (100% of the money goes for students).  A big THANK YOU to Jack and Sharon Gray, and all of the volunteers: Bonnie James, Carol Dettloff, Ken Bigelow, Kathy Bloomfield, Doreen Hildner, Jan & Andrew Boyd, Ona Boom, Kris Tissue.
