Wexford-Missaukee CTC Students Earn CNA Certificates

posted May 5, 2016, 6:08 AM by Jennifer Gaffke

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) help patients or clients with healthcare needs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse and often work in a wide variety of settings, including nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, etc.  A CNA assists with basic patient care, such as giving baths, checking vital signs, bed-making, and positioning.

Recently, 30 students enrolled in the Health Science Career program, which is housed at Munson Healthcare Cadillac, have become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).  The Health Science Career program is one of fifteen programs offered by the Wexford-Missaukee Career Technical Center.  These students participated in clinical training at Autumnwood of McBain and The Lakeview by performing personal care and assisting in social activities with residents.

In previous years, students had to travel to Mt. Pleasant or Traverse City to take the CNA exam.  However, this year the students were tested in the classroom at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital.
