Wexford-Missaukee ISD In-Service Day 2014 – Together We Are Stronger

posted Nov 11, 2014, 7:11 AM by Trent Miller

Each year the Wexford - Missaukee Intermediate School District and seven local school districts, including Cadillac Area Public Schools, Lake City Area Schools, Manton Consolidated Schools, Marion Public Schools, McBain Rural Agricultural Schools,  Mesick Consolidated Schools, and Pine River Area Schools,  come together to engage in a day of professional learning.  This day is designed to leverage all of our local expertise and resources.  The goal of this professional learning opportunity is to increase student engagement and success in the classroom.

Cadillac Area Public Schools hosted this event on Monday, November 3, 2014, where there were approximately 650 teachers and administrators Pre-K through 12th grade in attendance. The day offered 2 national keynote speakers and as well as 70 additional sessions by local, state, and national presenters covering a wide range of topics in the areas technology, educating the whole child, and content area literacy.

Teachers and administrators were pleased with the variety of sessions offered and enjoyed tailoring their learning to meet their individual needs.
Feedback from teachers was positive with one teacher commenting, “I have been doing this forever and this was the BEST one yet!”  Another teacher commented,” I liked the sessions that brought people from the community in to educate on pertinent issues that directly tied to curriculum, but are still important to understanding the whole child.”
