Welcome to the Digital Media Production program at the WMCTC:
The Digital Media Production program offers multi-faceted training for students interested in careers in video, television, radio, and audio. During their two years, first-year students will be exposed to extensive training on high-quality cameras, learning the basics of shooting and editing as they create their own video projects. Our in-house radio station, CTC Radio, offers those interested in radio careers a chance to program a radio station, including rotating music and announcements. Our second-year Digital Media Production students train in a dedicated, state-of-the-art media building. This new facility includes a professional-grade studio space, an advanced editing and post-production lab, sound-isolated audio mixing, dedicated sets for multi-camera production, and collaborative project rooms that mirror real industry environments. The expanded workspace allows students to take on larger, more complex productions while specializing in studio directing, live broadcast production, advanced cinematography, and audio engineering. This facility elevates second-year training to a true professional experience, better preparing students for internships, industry certifications, and careers in media.
Partnerships with many local media outlets allow Digital Media Production students to create video content seen on various social media platforms and to explore careers alongside local television and radio professionals. This training prepares a student for a career as a camera operator, production assistant, or video editor. Some of our alumni have held positions within the greater Cadillac area, such as director, photojournalist, camera operator, video editor, and news producer. Further training and education can lead to a career as a film, sound, or video engineer, producer, videographer, editor, motion graphics designer, or script writer.
