Mentoring at Wexford-Missaukee Intermediate School District

WMISD is pleased to partner with our local districts to provide comprehensive mentoring for new teachers and coaching support for veteran educators. Our mentoring program follows a three-year coaching cycle for teachers beginning their careers after completing a college preparation program, and a four-year cycle for those entering the profession through an alternative certification route.

This structured, research-based approach is designed to meet teachers where they are, providing personalized support that evolves with their needs. From classroom management strategies and instructional practices to professional reflection and resource connection, the program helps educators grow in confidence and skill. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every teacher has the support needed to reach their fullest potential, and in turn, positively impact student learning and success.

Teacher Coaching and Support at Wexford-Missaukee Intermediate School District

In addition to mentoring early career educators, WMISD provides coaching support for veteran teachers who are seeking fresh ideas, new strategies, or additional assistance. Whether adjusting to a new grade level, taking on a new content area, or simply looking for ways to refine classroom practice, veteran teachers can benefit from individualized coaching conversations, resource connections, and classroom observation feedback.

Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive space for teachers to reflect, experiment, and grow—ensuring that even experienced educators continue to feel energized and equipped to meet the evolving needs of their students.
